More About Me
12.30
This is the space where you can find out more about me, my interests and hobbies, and everything else that makes me tick.
I have quite a broad range of interests, though the main ones would be reading, music, films, and craft. I also love taking photo’s, cycling and walking, collecting postcards, penpalling, and animals, in particular my sisters dog Wilson. I enjoy comedy and street theatre, going to gigs, watching Wimbledon, England Football, and The Olympics as well. On any given day you may find me listening to, watching, tweeting about, or discussing anything from Harry Potter, Disney, and Twilight films, to Beverley Knight, Take That, and Bon Jovi.I’ve also had comment and opinion added to the Guardian Comment Is Free People’s Panel, and Society Daily Sections.
There’s a little more below about my cardmaking, and lyric writing, so please scroll down and read on:
Cardmaking And Cross Stitch
My love of craft has developed over the last 5 years, and with an Aunt who worked in a craft shop, I think it’s safe to say this is one hobby I can thank a member of my family for. I find cardmaking and cross stitch very relaxing and enjoyable, and love to add new items to my box of crafty makes. I also make and sell items, for friends, family and customers, including cards for all occasions, small cross stitch pictures or bookmarks, and lately I have also started making felt decorations. If you’re looking for an affordable handcrafted item for friends, family, or a special occasion, please visit my facebook page. One of my cards was recently featured in Cross Stitch Crazy Magazine, which I was really pleased about. Pic below, and there’s plenty more pictures on the facebook, so why not pay a visit!
Lyric Writing
It all began at a young age, when I began writing poetry and rhymes, and sometimes wrote poetry at school. When a school friend told me that a poem I had written sounded more like a song, I began looking more closely at song lyrics, how they were written, and slowly began fusing my interest in writing and music together. After being put in touch with a musician by a mutual friend in 2000, my first collaboration ‘I Need You’ was finished, which appeared on a Song Link Promotional CD. Vocalist on this track, Nicola Lelean has also performed the song live, and on local radio.
Since then several other collaborations have been completed, called ‘Footprints In The Sand’, and ‘That’s How It Goes’. Footprints in the Sand, a piano led pop/rock track, was co-written with Tyler Earle, who also provides the vocals. The track appears on Tyler’s debut EP, ‘It’s Not That, It’s Just’ which is available on Last.fm, I-Tunes, and Amazon. The song won a Battle of The Bands vote on Time 106.6 twice, reached the semi finals of the UK Songwriting Contest, and also the Semi Finals of The Fame Games which airs in America.
‘That’s How It Goes’ was co-written with Billy Playle, and vocals are performed by Zoe Handscomb. This also reached the semi finals of the UK Songwriting Contest, and has reached the Quarter Finals of The Fame Games. Both this song and Footprints In The Sand were also chosen by Reveal, an arm of TSG Media who run in-store radio stations/provide background music for hundreds of gyms, shopping centres, and retail outlets across the UK. So you may have heard the songs when you were out shopping, or having a workout!
I would like to thank all the collaborators I have worked with so far, Saint FM, and all the other radio stations who have played my co-writes for their support, and everyone who has listened to the songs for their interest and feedback. You can listen to the tracks mentioned above, and catch up with all my latest activities, on my Music Myspace page.
